Frequently Asked Questions REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION I registered on-line and received this envelope. What do I do now? The envelope contains their registration materials - official convention name badge, meal tickets and shuttle pass. They should present the Exchange Ticket at one of the Express Registration Counters to receive their badge holder, medallion, convention program, shuttle schedule and complimentary registration bag. Express Registration Counters will be set up in the foyer of the Minneapolis Convention Center Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. I mailed my registration form and payment to you, but never received anything from LCI. What do I do? Refer them to the Registration Assistance Counters in Exhibit Halls D & E. How do I get one of those bags? LCI partnered with the 2009 Minneapolis Host Committee this year to provide a complimentary tote bag to each registrant. If they are already registered, they can pick it up at the express registration counters. Each bag contains the convention program, badge holders and coupons. My wife is not a Lion and wants to attend the Opening Plenary Session with me. Does she have to register? Yes – registration is required for all official events. Admission is by convention badge only. Can you tell me where the Illinois delegation is staying? Refer to your delegation hotel list. Additional copies are available in the Convention Ops Office – exhibit hall Lobby Office C-7 & 8. I am a delegate (or alternate delegate) for my club. What do I do? They must be registered for the convention before they can be certified to vote as a delegate or alternate-delegate. Verify that they have registered and, if not, send them to on-site registration first – Exhibit Halls D & E. They may have a credential certification form signed by their club officer and think are registered for the convention, which is incorrect. They must first register for the convention and then go the Certification Area in the exhibit hall to be certified. What is the deadline for certification and registration? Can they register the same day as voting and still vote? On-site registration and certification is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They must complete the registration and certification process by 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to vote on Friday morning. Where do I pick up my Past International Director (PID) packet? We no longer have PID packets. Registration for PID’s and their spouse is complimentary. If they registered in advance, their registration materials (convention name badge, meal tickets, parade reviewing stand ticket and shuttle pass) were mailed to them in May. They should go to the Express Registration Counters to receive their badge holder, medallion, convention program, parade reviewing stand tickets, etc. If they did not register in advance, they need to go to the on-site registration counter in Exhibit Halls D & E. I am a PID and did not receive a ticket to the Hero Awards Banquet. Two banquet tickets are provided complimentary to all PID’s if requested in advance on the Registration/Housing Form. If they did not indicate they were attending the banquet they should be referred to the on-site registration desk in Exhibit Halls D & E. Transportation will be provided. I am a PID. Am I certified to vote? No. They must go to the Certification Area in Exhibit Halls D & E before 5:00 p.m. Thursday. SHUTTLE I missed my shuttle bus. What should I do? metroConnections is coordinating the bus shuttle. Refer the attendee to the LCI shuttle desk on Level 1, near the main rotunda entrance. metroConnections personnel will be stationed in this booth. Will there be transportation to and from the Twins Baseball Game on Wednesday? Transportation is not included with their baseball ticket. A transportation ticket can be purchased for $20 per person, which includes a deluxe motorcoach from the Minneapolis Convention Center to the ballpark and back to their hotel. Transportation tickets can be purchased at the metroConnections Tour Desk in the foyer of the MCC. How do I get a wheelchair accessible bus? They need to call 612-328-7521 at least 60 minutes prior to pick-up or talk with the Shuttle Manager on Route F. Where does the Parade begin? The parade step-off is Nicollet Mall & Washington Streets. What time does Nebraska assemble for the Parade? The delegation assembly times are listed in the convention program. EXHIBIT HALL Where can I purchase a MD-5M Host Committee Commemorative Pin? The host committee is giving away one complimentary commemorative pin to each registrant. They will receive an exchange ticket with their convention registration which can be redeemed at the host committee booth in Exhibit Halls D & E beginning Monday, July 6. Where are the Beach Boys playing? The Beach Boys will be performing for the International Show on Tuesday, July 7 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in Exhibit Hall B-C. The plenary sessions will also take place in this Exhibit Hall. Can I get a ticket for my daughter for the International Show? A limited number of international show tickets are available for $20.00 for guests and family members of convention registrants in the Convention Ops Office in Meeting Room 102 B on Level 1. All tickets are general admission. The proceeds will go to LCIF. All tickets are non-refundable. I think I left my camera on the shuttle bus. Did anyone turn it in? Lost and found items are placed at the Information and Language Assistance Booth in the exhibit hall. Look for the “i” in the exhibit hall. Do you have an area where I can store my parade signs for a few days? Regretfully no. Have them check with their hotel. They should be able to help them store their items. Are there still tickets available for the MJF Luncheon and Hero Awards Banquet? Banquet tickets may be purchased at the on-site registration desk located in Exhibit Halls D & E. Ticket sales are subject to availability. I lost my MJF lunch ticket. Can I get another one? Duplicate tickets can be obtained at the on-site registration counter in Exhibit Halls D & E. I am a member of the press in Hong Kong. Can I get a press pass? Laura Delgado will distribute the Press Passes in the Convention Ops Office – Room 102B located on Level 1. I need to check my e-mail. Can I use your computer for a minute? They can check their e-mail complimentary from the Internet Café located in the exhibit hall. I am an outgoing District Governor. Where do we pick up our PDG badges? The badges were mailed. If they have questions please refer them to the District Administration in the LCI Headquarters Booth in the exhibit hall. Where can I get a new permanent name badge? Mine is old and keeps falling off. New badges can be ordered at the Club Supplies Store in the exhibit hall. Where is the board staying? The Hilton Minneapolis. PLENARY SESSIONS Is there assigned seating for DGE’s? An area will be reserved for DGE’s on Friday only, for the ribbon pulling ceremony. When is the Flag Ceremony? Wednesday, July 8 at the Opening Plenary Session. Who is the keynote speaker? Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell will address convention delegates at the Opening Plenary Session on Wednesday, July 8. When is the Humanitarian Award presentation? The presentation is on Friday, July 10 to Father Chris Riley, founder of Youth Off The Streets. MEDICAL Can I get a wheelchair for my wife? A limited number of wheelchairs are available for rental through the MCC. Please direct them to the Red Information Counter near the main entrance. I am worried about my father. He fell and his arm is seems a little swollen. Can I get someone to check him out? If he is okay to walk direct him to the first aid office on Level 1, near the main entrance. If he seems weak, have him sit down and dial 2013 from the nearest beige house phone to contact First Aid and advise them of the situation. Be sure to give them your exact location in the hall. If you are not near a house phone contact the nearest MCC staff member for assistance. |
