Taste Of Minnesota Are you arriving a few days early and looking for fun events to attend? Try “Taste of Minnesota”. This popular event includes foods from many restaurants and a variety of music. Your registration for the LCI Convention gets you into the Beach Boys concert
on Tuesday July 7. Many of our Lions are helping volunteer for the Parade that
day but are not registered for the convention. Consider staying for the Beach
Boys concert that evening or bring a non-registered family member or friend! International Parade The International Parade through downtown Minneapolis will be on Tuesday July 7, 2009. Step off will be at 10 AM from the north end of downtown Minneapolis. The parade route will be along Nicollet Avenue and end at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Sessions The times and locations for all of the important events to attend can be found at the Lions Clubs International website. Click here for more information. Minnesota Lions Eye Bank Tour
A tour of the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank near the University of Minnesota is planned for
Monday July 6 and Wednesday July 8. Buses will leave the Minneapolis Convention Center
every half hour beginning at 10:00 AM with the last bus departing at 1:30. Riverboat Cruise Mississippi River Boat Sight-Seeing Cruise Enjoy a scenic boat tour of the Mississippi River aboard the Jonathon Paddleford Riverboat. Sights along the way include downtown St. Paul, Pig’s Eye Cave, Pike Island, and Fort Snelling. Space is limited. Click here for more information. Mississippi River Boat Dinner Cruise The Host Committee invites you to a wonderful Dinner and Mississippi River cruise aboard the Anson Northrop Riverboat. Your package includes: transportation from the Convention Center to Harriet Island in St. Paul with return, the riverboat cruise, dinner, and live band entertainment. Space is limited. Click here for more information. Minnesota Twins Baseball Game The Minnesota Twins will be playing the New York Yankees at the Metrodome on Wednesday July 8 at 7:10 PM. The Minnesota Twins have put together a special package for LCI and the Host Committee. The Minnesota Twins will be making a donation to Lions Clubs International Foundation for each ticket. Click here for more information. The Minnesota Twins will have a booth on the main floor of the Convention Center. If you have not received your tickets, you may pick them up there as the Twins did not mail tickets outside of the U. S. and have stopped mailing tickets so as to make sure that did not leave home and find they were deposited in your mailbox after you left. You may also still purchase tickets for Lions Night at the Twins (vs. the Yankees) at the Twins booth for the Wednesday, July 8 game where IP Al Brandel will throw out the first pitch. Golf Outing A Lions Golf tournament is planned for Monday, July 6, 2009 at the historic Hastings Country Club, the home of the 2009 Minnesota State Amateur Tournament.
